About the Sundre & District YJC
Our Story
Restoring Hope and Building a Stronger Community
The Sundre & District Youth Justice Committee was originally established in 2004 with the goal of supporting youth in conflict with the law through restorative justice practices. Although the committee disbanded in 2014 due to a lack of volunteers, the increasing challenges faced by youth, families, and the justice system in our community inspired a passionate group of individuals to revive the committee.

Now we're back and dedicated to facilitating dialogues between offenders and victims. The committee aims to repair harm, build community trust, and support rehabilitation. Volunteers work collaboratively to foster understanding and create a supportive environment for all participants.
Our organization believes in the potential of every young individual, and we are committed to providing the support and guidance needed to help them define their future and positively impact the community around them.
Our Mission
Supporting Youth, Empowering Communities
Our mission is to provide youth in conflict with the law, their families, and victims with community-based support that fosters accountability and healing through meaningful and relevant restorative resolutions. We believe that mistakes are part of growing up, not life sentences. Through this process, we aim to restore balance and rebuild trust within our community.

Meet Our Team
Guided by Passion and Expertise
Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers who bring diverse skills and a deep sense of care for our community and its youth.
Volunteers who support victims of crime and offenders through restorative justice models play a crucial role in fostering healing and reconciliation.
They facilitate communication between both parties, helping victims share their experiences and feelings while allowing offenders to understand the impact of their actions. By promoting dialogue and mutual understanding, volunteers contribute to a restorative process aimed at repairing harm, encouraging accountability, and enhancing community safety. Their efforts not only empower victims but also support offenders in making amends and reintegrating into society.
